Our park, which is fully approved by Cape Nature, is currently home to 2 brown lions,
3 white lions,1 leopard, 1 black leopard, 2 Bengal tigers and 2 white tigers. These
animals are acquired from approved breeding programmes, and Vredenheim is not
allowed to breed with them. It is not our goal to be a breeding programme, but rather
a place of sanctuary for these magnificent creatures. We strive to provide a safe
environment where the public can learn more about the cats as well as appreciate
their beauty. Our enclosures are spacious, and offers each cat their own “creature
comforts” such as a play area and swimming pool for our tigers and big comfortable
rocks for our lions to lounge on all day.

Vredenheim’s owners, originally long-time game farmers from Dundee in Kwazulu Natal, have a great passion for big cats and decided to open a Big Cats Park at Vredenheim to educate the public about these majestic animals and their behaviours. They opened our Big Cats Park in October 2011, and it has been attracting visitors from far and wide ever since.
